Prague City Tourism performs a number of public benefit activities for its shareholder, the City of Prague, in a number of areas of domestic and inbound tourism.

  • It analyses available statistical and other professional data and information and regularly evaluates them. It conducts sample surveys in selected areas of inbound tourism. 
  • It formulates relevant source markets from a geographical and socio-economic perspective and strategically targets individual marketing campaigns accordingly. 
  • It formulates and proposes the objectives of the City of Prague in tourism in accordance with the Inbound Tourism Concept. 
  • It consistently produces and regularly updates comprehensive sets of tourist and cultural information, such as a calendar of events or an overview of attractions in Prague. 
  • It provides tourist information in Czech and foreign languages to meet the current and targeted language structure of tourists and visitors to the capital city by all available means of the developing information environment. It does this mainly through a network of tourist information centres, the prague.eu website, communication on social media, in press releases or through cooperation with the media. 
  • It presents the results and benefits of tourism in Prague to residents, the media and the professional public. 
  • It provides education in the field of tourism, especially for official Prague city guides, among other by providing training for licensed guides and courses for future guides, issuing licenses and keeping records of guides with a qualification exam to be official Prague city guides. 
  • It operates heritage sites and tourist attractions in a sustainable manner, ensuring their management and maintenance. Based on a usufructuary lease contract with the capital city, it ensures the tourist operation of eight important cultural monuments: the Old Town Hall, the Petřín Tower, the Petřín Mirror Maze, the Old Town Bridge Tower, the Lesser Town Bridge Tower, the Powder Gate Tower, the St. Nicholas Bell Tower and the New Mill Water Tower. 
  • It creates a seamless platform for mutual communication for the tourism industry in the capital city, especially key business guilds and associations, Prague and its districts and academia in order to coordinate interests in the further development of tourism in Prague. 
  • It ensures the marketing of Prague as a tourist destination in accordance with the Inbound Tourism Concept for the City of Prague. 
  • It familiarises domestic and foreign visitors with cultural and historical developments, current events, cultural and social programs and monuments of Prague through all available forms and relevant means, including the organisation of fam and press trips for the professional public. 
  • It creates and implements a marketing plan to ensure the promotion of Prague. 
  • It organises lectures and trips to cultural and historical monuments in the capital city. 
  • It ensures the presentation of Prague as a tourist destination at professional forums, conferences and trade fairs, including the MICE segment.
