The Inbound Tourism Strategy for the City of Prague 2024-2027 titled “With Respect for Prague” is the main strategic document that defines our activities. It was unanimously approved in June 2024 by the Prague City Council. The purpose of the Strategy is to ensure a balance between the economic benefits of tourism and the strategic interests of the city, these being environmental, cultural, social and economic sustainability, improving the quality of life of Prague’s citizens, ensuring their safety and protecting and developing their culture and historical heritage. In other words: maximising the positive aspects of tourism and minimising the associated negative ones. The strategy is implemented through 29 projects in the implementation plan. Within the previous concept, 40 projects were implemented in the years 2020 to 2022, e.g. increasing the quality of customer service, greening transport in the city centre, improving the accessibility of monuments for disabled groups, creating alternative routes or developing smart tourism tools such as the My Prague app to spread tourist interest beyond the congested conservation zone. Among other things, the projects focused on the issue of advertising smog and its reduction, on solving the negative impact of short-term leases or on educating and informing tourists about the culture and rules of behaviour in the city. As a part of supporting sustainability, a project of returnable cups was also implemented to promote the use of sustainable tableware at cultural events in Prague instead of disposable consumer plastics.
