Prague, one of the most beautiful cities in the world, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Apart from the beautiful monuments, the unique atmosphere created by locals also forms part of the Prague’s genius loci. For this reason, Prague City Tourism regularly conducts the Enjoy Respect Prague educational campaign, following the initiative of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). The campaign educates incoming visitors and tourists about the rules that will allow them to enjoy their visit to Prague with respect for its residents. This is indeed what slow tourism is all about – prioritising a deeper individualised experience over a fleeting unified experience. Gathered under the slogan “Treat the Mother of Cities like your own mother” ten commandments is a list of recommendations for tourists on how to help preserve the exceptional value of Prague, whose foundations are anchored eleven centuries deep and whose towers touch the stars. The campaign runs online and has its own website for domestic and international clients. Additionally, tourists at the Václav Havel Airport and in the Prague conservation area are warned in a non-violent and visually attractive way, by means of advertising leaflets and billboards, about the rules of behaviour in Prague, such as the observance of quiet hours, reserved parking for shared scooters, etc. The aim of the campaign is to minimise the negative impacts of tourism. Prague City Tourism closely coordinates the campaign with the Prague 1 City Ward.
